News release from Pike County Iron Horse

The Pike County Iron Horse is a minor league football team that will begin playing home games in Pike County Mississippi starting May 2010. The Iron Horses will be playing a 10 game regular season schedule with 5 home games and 5 away games with a chance to go to playoffs and a Championship Game in Florida.

Our games are throughout the Southeastern USA. The Iron Horse Team is a member of The Premier South Football League (PFSL).

Our team is committed to seeking out first class coaches and players with prior football experience at the high school, college, semi-pro or professional level. We will give locally recognized athletes an opportunity to continue playing football past high school or college.

The team expects to attract football players from the major universities in the Mississippi and Louisiana, as well as community colleges, high school graduates and former professional players. We will send film to colleges and the pros, marketing these players for opportunities to play on the next level. Our mission is to provide a family friendly entertainment and humanitarian services to Pike County through exciting sports contests and a variety of community outreach programs.

The PSFL will partner with local media outlets to promote the local team. The Iron Horse Team expects that this partnership between its players, coaches, owner’s and association with the community will promote community unity and support for the team. All members of the Iron Horse Team will be very active in the communities we live, work and play in.

The Iron Horse team not only gives adults the opportunity to play football but also supports all local levels of football from youth to the high school level.
