Area residents concluded a day of reflection, celebration and prayer with a special program honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and local civil rights pioneer, C.C. Bryant on Monday’s national holiday, Martin Luther King Day. King and Bryant share the same birthday.

The day began with the MLK Day Prayer Breakfast sponsored by the NAACP Youth Council at the Southwest Medical Center. Dr. Montoya ‘Mon’ Taylor was the keynote speaker.

The MLK Parade was held in the afternoon and ended in a prayer at McComb city hall.

The King-Bryant Day Program was held at the Martin Luther King Center in McComb. McComb mayor Zach Patterson was the keynote speaker.
