On Saturday, June 20th, the NAACP celebrated its Centennial at its annual Freedom Fund Banquet. Congratulations President Anthony Witherspoon on your outstanding keynote address. Much has been said, both positive and negative, about the event. It seems the true message did not ring through to the critics. Today, rather than dwell on the negative feedback, I will focus on the message of unity.
Tara Cockerham: “A special day we celebrate and honor our mothers. My mom is outgoing, loving and I’m greatful to have her.”
D.W. Weatherspoon: “I have the best mother in the world. She raised me by herself. It doesnt get any better than that.”
Chiquita Carter: “It will be good if they go further than high school and go on to college.”
Rachel Gonzales: "Going to church and spending time with the kids."
Linell Webber:
“No, because we are in the south. We are always the last to get help. Remember Katrina?”
